

“Ski”, as everyone called him, was born in Worchester Mass. and graduated from Boys Trade High School in Worchester. He proudly served for nine years in the Marine Corps and played for his squadron’s football team. He served for eleven years in the Air Force for the 1st Helicopter Squadron, where he spent four years assigned as Air Traffic Communications personnel for Vice President Agnew’s helicopter division. He played fast pitch softball for his squadron’s team. After retiring from the military, he and his family moved to Tampa, Fla. where he joined the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. He began as a dispatcher and then became a patrol deputy. He worked throughout Hillsborough County and became a Corporal and then a Sergeant in the Patrol Department. After serving twenty-three years as a deputy he retired. Ski was a hardworking man at his careers and at home.
He attended St. Lawrence Catholic Church since 1975 and was the usher at Sunday’s 11:00 am Mass. A true man’s man, a leader, and a man of purpose, faith and honor. He was funny and enjoyed talking to people. He was a friend to anyone who crossed his path. He enjoyed fishing, boating, barbequing, going to the beach and watching the football, baseball and hockey. Although the time he enjoyed the most was the time spent with his wife of 61 years and his four children, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Everyone who knew Ski knew he had the biggest heart and enjoyed helping people. He would give unconditionally of his time and his love. He was and is loved beyond measure and will be greatly missed. Ski is with us now in spirit and will always be here in our hearts.
He has gone to join his father, Adolph Zalansky Sr., his mother, Helen Zalansky and his sister, Dolly Walsh in God’s loving home. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Estelle Zalansky; four children, Diane Zalansky, Dawn Zalansky, Michael Zalansky and Matthew Zalansky; four grandchildren, Darcie Epperson, Stephanie Epperson, Connor Zalansky and Cameryn Zalansky; four great-grandchildren, Lexis Debose, Sivon Epperson, Mystic Debose and Cyar Debose; brothers, Scott Walker and Roger Zalansky.
