Retired U.S. Airforce Captain Albert Randolph Fields, 77 of Valrico, Florida went home to the Lord Sunday July 6th 2025 after losing his battle with stage 4 lung cancer.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughters Laura (Mark) Nye, Jennifer (Travis) Wilson and Brooke (Mike) Fields; his granddaughters Nicole Moll, Courtney Kossakowski, Morgan Nye, Isabella Wilson, Olivia Sheffield and his brother Robert Lang Fields Jr. along with many beloved nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert Lang Fields, Mother Ruth Hope (Jeffers) Fields, his oldest brother David Burns Fields and son Albert R Fields Jr.
Randy was born on August 22, 1947 to the late Robert Lang and Ruth Hope (Jeffers) Fields in Elkins, West Virginia. Randy was a graduate of Elkins High School Class of 1965, where he played the trumpet in the band. He attended Strayer Junior College of Finance in Washington, DC, earning an Associate in Arts degree in Business Administration. He earned an Associate in Arts degree in Flightline General Maintenance from the Community College of the Air Force. In 1980, he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management from Wilmington College, DE.
In 1993 he retired from the U.S Air Force after 24 years, 8 months of service, distinguishing himself as a Crew Chief for C-141 Starlifters at Charleston AFB, SC and C-5A Galaxies at Dover AFB, DE. He served as a Logistics Officer at Shaw AFB, SC, Yokota AB, Japan. Osan AB, South Korea and Langley AFB, VA. In 2021, he retired as a Civil Servant after 27 years of service in Logistics at Langley AFB, VA and at MacDill AFB, Tampa FL providing support for the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).
He was a devoted, active grandfather who delighted in attending his granddaughter’s soccer games, high school sports and chorus concerts. Randy was an ardent fan of all WVU sports, Buccaneer Football, TB Lightning Hockey and NASCAR Racing. He was a faithful follower of Christ and attended First Baptist Church of Brandon in Brandon, Florida.
Flowers are welcome but if you chose, a donation may be made to one of the following: Moffitt Cancer Center, Gary Sinise Foundation or Fisher House in memory of Albert Fields.
A visitation for Albert will be held at 10:30 am at First Baptist Brandon Church located at 216 N Parsons Ave Brandon FL 33510. This will be in the chapel not the main church. . (This building is located next to the MAC center with the words First Baptist Church in black on the front of the building, facing Parsons Ave.)
The Church Memorial Service starts at 11:00 am
A committal Military Cemetery Service will follow at 2 pm at Sarasota National Cemetery located at
