Eulogy 3of3

It was Mom and dad’s 56th wedding anniversary (August 11th) I drove them to Tulsa Oklahoma for dad to see his family. It was mom and dad’s last trip together before he passed away 3 months later November 19th 2013. 

It was June 2014 the visiting angles started living with mom at her home until December.  On Christmas Day they checked mom into an assisted living facility it was Christmas night December 25, 2014. She lived out her life at the assisted living facility. 


I’ll leave you all with this song from George Strait.

For me, I look forward to the day in get see my mom and dad again and all the family members I’ve loved and lost I’m my life.

Eulogy 2of3

Nurse – When I step on that occasional nail or slice my hand open on tin building a chicken pen or getting burned welding with dad.

Veterinarian – Feeding 2-week-old piglets we brought in the house with a baby bottle because it was too cold outside.  

Lawn maintained – Mowed the lawn 

Accountant and Secretary – For 35 years she kept the ledgers for Dad’s business “Harry’s Welding”

Cheerleader – She encouraged you to be the best you can be weather it was sports, work or life itself.

Volunteer work  - She did volunteer work with the soup kitchen supporting community needs in the greater Tampa area. Along with membership to Legion of Mary, NY.  Legion of Mary, Nativity,  Meals-on-Wheels, Peanut butter & Jelly Ministry & St. Anthony’s Helpers.

Her and Dad were a team working together in raising my sister and I, she always supported Dad in everything he did. 

Some of my favorite memory of Mom was how much she enjoyed attending concerts of her favorite country singer George Strait.  We went to every George Strait concert in Tampa and Orlando.  We even flew to Dallas with Greg and I to watch his last concert before retiring. 

Her favorite color was blue I guess that’s why she liked the Dallas cowboys (the blue and silver).  Like me she was a Hugh fan of the Dallas Cowboys.  When the Boys came to town we went to the games, we even drove to Dallas for the Cowboys last game at the legendary Texas stadium.  

Greg and I took her out West for two weeks then two year later Pam and I took her to Vail on a ski trip.  These memories will live with me as long as I live. 

Dad always wanted to buy a place in the mountains so in May of 2008 I did. I bought a cabin in Maggie Valley just outside of Asheville NC. I took Mom and dad there and then mom countless number of times. They loved it.

I'd like to thank my Family and Friends for joining my Sister and I in celebration of my Mom’s life.

I would like to thank everyone for your cards and calls expressing your condolences 

Mom had several loves in her life the first being the lord Jesus. Mom being a devout Catholic, had a deep faith in the Christ. She always turned to the lord with challenges difficulty and praised him in good times.  She always encouraged me to pray for his blessing.  Indeed, I was blessed. Luann and I were blessed to have wonderful parents like mom and dad.  

Mom’s second love was our dad.  She was a devoted wife and mother.  Mom was born a New Yorker, but quickly became a country girl after marring Dad. She often called herself an Oklahoma cowgirl. Mom was extraordinary woman, she was a pioneer of sorts, moved from New York to Florida bought 2.5 arches and an old beat up home to fix. She was tough with determination, understanding of a saint and embodied unselfishness for her family on both action and deeds.  

While we lived in New York, first in Brooklyn then Long Island I remember all the family get togethers.  Mom’s mom lived with us we would have mom’s brother and sisters over to the house. You could smell the food and hear Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra,  Jerry Vale, Perry Como and other Italian singers. 

She was proud of her heritage “Italian American” and keep the tradition alive.  As a cook and chief, she served great Italian dishes, Pasta fazool, Lasagna, Chicken Cacciatore, Lentils, Baked macaroni, Macaroni and meatballs.  My sister now carries on that legacy. During Christmas she would Stifles and my favorite Angel food cake for my birthday in January.

She cooked for neighbors, my friends and family.  Every other Saturday she would cook lunch for my kids and I, then after would, she would play with the kids outside on the trampoline and played sports.  She had endless energy at 65 years old.  

She kept an orderly home, and ware many hats,

My enduring memory of Aunt Ann is when Judie and I would come visit her and Uncle Harry in Dover.  She would always make a fuss when we arrived through a joyous (loud) hello and a warm hug.  I can still remember the feeling of love and happiness when we stepped through the door.  Talk about a mother who could make a house a home!  I can also still remember walking in and smelling the fried chicken and fixings she was about to serve and the family get togethers where Aunt Ann always livened up the event!

When I remember Aunt Ann I also think about her true life's accomplishment - raising two good people - Jim and Luann.  They are a testament to who she was and the joy and goodness she brought into the world.   Aunt Ann will live on in them.  Her memory will always be cherished.

Aunt Ann, as my dad would call her, was such a joy filled person. I remember visiting family in Florida and the warm welcome she offered when we came to visit her and Uncle Harry. Her joy and laughter would fill a room! I miss those times!

Lee and Lisa Rogers

So many great memories of staying with Aunt Ann and Uncle Harry.  Some of my best vacations as a kid. One of the best was when we went to visit and I  slept walked into their bed.  Uncle Harry said "oh what's going on here."  We always looked forward to going to Florida on Spring Break! I hope I leave memories for my nieces and nephews like Aunt Ann and Uncle Harry left for me.

Ann was my sister-in-law.  Always very kind
To our family.  She loved her family, church and lived her faith.


I have known Luanne's mom as Aunt Ann for  around 55 years. Aunt Ann was my best friend,  Judie' s aunt.  I often saw Aunt Ann  on long island , NY where we all lived.  Once Aunt Ann and family moved to Florida, my best friend and i stayed with them  often when we visited. Uncle Harry and Aunt Ann were kind and very funny. I have a lot of fond memories of them.  ♥️

Anna is survived by her son James Harry Sullivent Jr. (April) and daughter Luann Sullivent Leahy (Mike); sisters, Palmina (Peggy) Wells, Matilda (Judie) Rogers and Theresa (Terry) Hodge; 6 grandchildren, Gregory, Pam, Kaitlyn, Matthew, Jennifer and Michelle; great-grandchildren, Tucker; Paisley, Riley and Reagan along with many other loving family members including those in Oklahoma and New York.


Anna was also predeceased by her brothers, Anthony and Vincent.
