I used to fly in to Wimauma airport early in the mornings and Dan would just be getting there.I usually would end up spending much of the day in their "pilots lounge" and listening to Dan talk about his military past and many other stories he had.I was just thinking of him recently and learned of his passing,he was truly a nice guy.RIP Dan

My memories of Uncle Dan go back to when he married his wife, Dorothy Pannos Begley.  I was the flower girl in their wedding  and how happy they were!!  Dan grew up in Westwood, a suburb in Cincinnati, and first met Dorothy's older sister Marian.  Dan and Marian were just friends, and it was through Marian that Dan met Dorothy.  Shortly thereafter Dan told Marian that he was going to marry Dorothy  and that came true.  
Dan was going to the University of Cincinnati in a pre-med program following his distinguished service in the Army Air Corps during WWII.   Upon marrying Dorothy, his pursuit of medicine ended, but with his later career with Hoffman La Roche, he nonetheless contributed to the medical care of others.  
Dan and Dorothy moved to Decatur, IL, but when their second son Steve had repeated bouts with asthma and pneumonia, he told Dorothy that they needed to leave the area and move to a warmer climate, which led them to Appollo Beach, FL, where they raised their family.  
When I was in the 9th grade, I flew to Florida with my grandmother Ida Pannos to visit Aunt Dorothy, Uncle Dan, and their family and to link up with my parents (Angela & Harold Dubach) and my brother Paul, who had already driven down from Cincinnati.  Uncle Dan & Aunt Dorothy took us up to Ruskin Beach, my first time to see the Gulf of Mexico.  I had a great time, though I cut my toe on a shell and Uncle Dan put myself and my Mother at ease by stopping the bleeding and applying a bandage.  He was always fun to be with and I thoroughly enjoyed his wit.  He also took us on his boat.
Much later in 1979 my husband Bob & I took our family to Florida to visit Uncle Dan & Aunt Dorothy and to meet their cousins.  Our second son Rick and their daughter Doreen were born only one month apart.  Doreen was my grandmother's youngest grandchild and Rick was her fourth great-grandchild. That was a great visit.
This past January Uncle Dan sent me a lovely note thanking me for the calendar of WWII Battles that I had sent him.  He was a great uncle to me  as well as a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many.  He will indeed be missed.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Dan's passing. It gave me a moment to reflect on the many happy visits, both personal and professional, that we had through my years of practice and his in pharmaceutical sales.  His was always an uplifting spirit and I know he will be missed by the large family, often the topic of our talks, and the many friends he  collected as he passed through an active life.  I'm only sorry that I lost track of him in time and pray that his end was peaceful as was his just reward.

Dan remains a HERO to me.  His WWII air combat experience.  Especially
in those days when "Few came back".  And in later year earning his Private Pilot License.   We miss Dan at Aston Gardens Courtyard, and at our daily Breakfast "regulars".  A quick wit.  Always ready to visit with anyone stopping by the outside Lounge area. Dan was a Good Man and a Good Friend.  Culver Lussier,  Aston Gardens Courtyard, Sun City Center

Dan always greeted everyone he met. His passing was a shock to all of us here at the Courtyard. May God Bless and Comfort you at this time.

Dan moved to the Courtyards in Sun City Center several months ago-he was charming and was well-loved by the residents-he loved talking about Apollo Beach,his children and his service years-his sudden death shocked all of us-he will miss him and I am sorry I cannot attend the Service-God rest his soul and grant his large family peace.
