He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eleanor; a daughter, Robin Michaelson; a granddaughter Meghann (Johnathan) Nelson; a great-granddaughter, Brenna; a great-grandson, Enzo; two sisters, Dorothy Adrig; Sharon (Joseph) Musich and sisters-in-law; Lenore Michaelson, Marilyn (Walter) Tamminen, Kathryn Blanchard, Debra Smart, Judith Tyson, Chris (Jim) Quigley, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
David was born in Chicago, Illinois. His parents moved to Long Lake, Illinois when he was one year old. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and after discharge resumed employment with International Harvester in Libertyville, Illinois. He was foreman of the welding department and in charge of maintaining the production schedule of all three shifts. He still found the time to build two houses.
He retired from International Harvester after 34 years and he and Eleanor moved to Georgia where he helped his brother-in-law, Carl, with his car painting business. In 1991, they moved to Florida and he enjoyed a well-earned retirement. Eventually John and Meghann also moved to Florida and he was able to spend a lot of time with his fellow ice cream enthusiast, great-granddaughter, Brenna and rambunctious great-grandson, Enzo. They loved every minute together. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brandon, Florida.
