Donald Arthur Payton

Donald Arthur Payton, age 81, of Brandon, Florida passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022 from complicated health issues. A graveside service for Donald will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Highway 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.

Donald was born to the late John William Payton and Beulah Tingle Payton Lake in Springfield, Kentucky on June 3, 1941. He graduated from Springfield High School. Donald proudly served his country in the US Army for 27 years until his retirement as a 1st Sergeant in July 1987. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and received many medals and citations during his service in the military.

Donald married the love of his life, Lang Xuan Payton, on June 22, 1979 until her death on October 13, 2012. They loved to travel, laugh and spend time together.

Donald is preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Payton.

Donald Is survived by his step-daughters: Lan Emery (Wilbert) Abreu of Tampa, FL and Lisa Emery of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Deion Levins of Clearwater, FL, Kenli Shaw of Chattanooga, TN, Tyler Shaw of Wesley Chapel, FL, Lia Abreu of Tampa, FL; great-grandchild, Marquise Brown of Clearwater, FL; sisters: Norma (“Buddy”) Ryan of Harrodsburg, KY and Marilyn Corley of Louisville, KY; brother: Roger (Judy) Payton of Harrodsburg, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
