Douglass "Hawk" Hawkins, 64, of Valrico passed away February 20, 2014. He was a U.S Army Vietnam veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart, and a retiree of the City of Tampa after 23 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Olee Hawkins; brother, Bruce Hawkins; and sister, Sharlene Goodwin. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rita; daughter, Shannon; grandson, Kyler and granddaughter Karly; and brother, Robert (Donna). A memorial service will take place Monday, March 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Stowers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery.
