Laverne Brush, a woman whose immense spirit far outsized her small stature, passed away leaving behind a profound legacy of love, strength, and resilience. She was a vibrant force who proved that "dynamite comes in small packages," impacting countless lives with her kind heart and sharp sense of humor.
A Life of Devotion
Laverne’s journey was defined by her devotion to her family. She married E.E. "Ebby" Dyal on September 1, 1950, and together they had two children: Keith E. Dyal (Kathy McElvaine) and Cynthia Dyal Britten (Bruce Britten). On March 7, 1969, she began a new chapter of her life when she married James W. Brush, Jr., expanding her family to include step-children James W. Brush III (Cheryl), Melanie Toth (Paul), and the late John Brush.
She was grandmother to Sarah Bryan (Mickey), Sally Knight (Chad), Cindy Dyal, and Cassie McHale, and great-grandmother to six.
Resilience and Grace
A true fighter at heart, Laverne faced life's challenges with remarkable courage. She was a two-time cancer survivor and navigated a courageous five-year battle with dementia with the same tenacity that defined her character. Despite these trials, she remained beautiful inside and out, continuing to smile often and share her love through the hugs she so dearly enjoyed giving and receiving.
A Lasting Legacy
Laverne leaves behind 93 years of memories characterized by her loving, kind, and strong nature. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim and her siblings Doris Flegel, Shirley Huckeby, Pete Bellflower, and Morris “Red” Bellflower.
