

Hursey and Edward Harewood.
Edward received his M.B.A. in Management from New York Institute of Technology. He
proudly worked at the engineering firms of Dermot Reddy, P.E. and The Ehrenkrantz
Group.
For 31 years, Edward worked as Senior Associate Director at NYC Health & Hospitals
Corporation, Brooklyn, N.Y.
Edward passionately served for sixteen years as an Associate Professor at St.Joseph’s
College, Brooklyn, NY and Saint Johns Univerity, Queens, NY, specializing in the
teaching of statistics and matrix methods mathematics.
Edward loved to travel, cook gourmet meals and host elaborate dinner parties. He loved
plants and touted one of the best gardens in Long Island, New York.
Edward was blessed and had the opportunity to live a life that so many others only
dream of. Upon retirement, he and his lovely wife relocated to Tampa, Florida and
purchased their dream home, in the Waterset community, Apollo Beach, Florida.
Edward audited classes at the University of South Florida and was fortunate to receive
a full scholarship to study abroad in Paris, France. He also joined the Tampa Regional
Artists, and serves on the Board of Directors. His Art explorations were truly his life’s
passion. He was honored to present his work at the Valencia Lakes African American
History Gala.
He leaves to cherish his life : His wife Dr. Brenda Williams Harewood, his children:
Darrius Braddox, Jaleesa Harewood, Anthony Harewood (Xiomara), his first grand
daughter and the love of his life Alexandra Jaleesa Harewood, his siblings Joesph
Leon(Mary Ann), Carol Ann, Anthony Allen and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,
amazing WaterSet- Brevada Lane neighbors and lifetime friends.
