Eurceline Burrell, age 85, passed away, from cancer on April 6, 2022. She was born December 15, 1936, in Beckford Kraal, Clarendon, Jamaica, West Indies, and immigrated to Great Britain. In 1970, Fergus and Eurceline immigrated to the United States with their two children. She worked as an inspector at Smith and Wesson in Springfield, Massachusetts, and retired with her husband to Brandon, Florida, in 1995. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Fergus Burrell, as well as their children Clive O. (spouse Linda), Marcia (spouse Winfield), and six grandchildren, Christina (spouse Ryan and great-grandchildren Coretta and Calhan), Jeanine (spouse Kyle), Clive J. (spouse Raven), Jonathan( spouse Rebecca), Wesley, and Hailey.
Eurceline’s family was her life, and she loved visiting and talking to them, especially her grandchildren. She was rarely still as she was always sewing or cooking. Her children and grandchildren loved her Cod Fish Flitters(Fritters), dumplings(johnnycakes), curry goat, rice and peas, Bunn, gizzada, sorel, Irish mash, ackee & saltfish, cornmeal porridge, rice porridge, and hard dough bread. When Eurceline and Fergus were not at the YMCA or walking for exercise in the neighborhood, they enjoyed cruises and other vacation spots, such as visiting family in London, Wisconsin, Massachusetts, Florida, and New York. She was always more concerned about everyone else’s well-being than her own and showed her love to many friends worldwide.
Sister Burrell loved the Lord and enjoyed traveling, exercising, sewing, taking pictures, and talking on the phone. HighPoint Church became their new church home. Eurceline participated in; meals on wheels, the worship team, and many other projects at the church. One of her favorite Bible verses was, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1).
