
Isaac “Ike” Owen, 90, of Tampa Fl was called by the Lord on January 27th, 2016. Ike was born on November 20th, 1925 in Ocala, FL, and was one of two sons to his parents. Ike grew up on his parent’s farm in Lawtey, FL and graduated from Starke High School. He enlisted in the US Army and served during WWII. While on a mission he was captured and imprisoned by German forces for over 1 year in harsh conditions. While recuperating in a French hospital he met Angele, a nurse who later became his wife. They returned to Florida and were married for 53 years until her passing in 2002. After WWII Ike worked for Pepsi Cola, but then enlisted in the US Air Force where he served with Honor for over 20 years. After retiring from the Air Force they settled in Tampa where Ike worked at Macey’s and the MacDill Air Force Base Commissary. Ike enjoyed long standing memberships at the Elk’s, Moose, and Legion lodges. Ike was an avid fisherman and spent countless hours fishing at many spots around the bay area, most notably at the MacDill Pier. Ike enjoyed technology. He loved how his phone and computer could put him in touch instantly with loved ones anywhere in the world. Ike spent the past several years making friends at the Brookdale facility in Brandon. There will be a graveside service 2:00 PM Monday, Feb. 1st. at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery, Brandon.
