Born and raised in Tampa, Florida, Jack was a proud, hardworking man who never shied away from getting his hands dirty or lending them to others. He served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force and went on to build an accomplished career as a Certified Welding Inspector, Boilermaker, and Superintendent at Tampa Bay Shipbuilding and Repair. His work ethic, dedication, and pride in his craft left a lasting mark on those who worked alongside him.
Outside of work, Jack had a deep love for the simple joys in life — playing his guitar, grilling out, fishing, and telling jokes. He had an old-school way about him, with a strong sense of pride and a heart that always cared for others, even when he showed it in his own unique way.
Jack leaves behind his loving wife, Arlene Sweat, and his children, Samantha Sweat and Jack Sweat, along with his cherished grandchildren: Jonathan Sweat, Jacob Sweat, Everleigh Sweat, Chaeli Smith, Chloe Smith, and Joseph Smith Jr. He is also survived by his siblings: Michael Wayne Sweat, Marie Palmer, and Wanda Solomon.
He is reunited in heaven with his parents, Rosalie and John Sweat, and his beloved children, Jessica Ann Sweat, Lynn Marie Sweat, and John Ross Sweat.
Jack’s legacy of hard work, loyalty, and love will live on through his family and all those fortunate enough to have known him.
A funeral service for Jack will occur 2 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Stowers Funeral Home, 401 West Brandon Boulevard, Brandon, Florida. Interment to follow in Limona Cemetery, 1698 Limona Road, Brandon, Florida. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
