Jacqueline Georgia Benton

Jacqueline G. Benton, aged 91, born and raised in Chicago and a resident of Tampa since 1972, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2024, with her three children at her side. Born on January 6, 1933, she led a life full of love, service, dedication to her family and community, and faith in God and the Catholic Church

Jacqueline married Harry Knowles on May 6, 1951, with whom she shared 34 years of loving family life until his passing on September 21, 1985. She later found love again with Arley Benton, marrying in Tampa on June 9, 1990, and sharing 33 years together before his death on June 18, 2023. Jacqueline enjoyed 67 years of marriage, filled with love and companionship with two wonderful men.

Beyond her roles as a devoted mother and wife, Jacqueline actively participated in her community as a member of the Lombard's Junior Woman's Club, a PTA member, a Brownie leader, a youth bowling coach, a Little League baseball team mom and concession manager, and the Boy Scouts' treasurer. Her journey included work at a dime store in Chicago as a cosmetic consultant, the owner of Angel Cakes, the manager at the Chocolate Bean, and 24 years as the marketing director of Sweet Tomatoes, where she built lasting friendships with staff and customers alike.

In her last year, Jacqueline enjoyed her home at Tessera, where she received loving care from their wonderful staff and was loved by everyone. Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Jacqueline is survived by her children, Patrick, Robin, and Kevin Knowles, and Bill, Larry, and Randy Benton, and she was a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. Her legacy of love, wisdom, and community spirit will continue to guide and inspire her family and friends.

Jacqueline's journey was marked by love, resilience, and an unwavering dedication to her family and community. She will be deeply missed, but her memory and the positive impact of her life will forever remain an inspiration to those who were fortunate to know her.
