James Phalor “Jim” Lutz, 91, passed away February 8, 2011. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and has been in the Brandon area for 21 years. He served his country for over 23 years as a pilot in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He was a POW during World War II and awarded the Purple Heart. He is survived by his wife, Mona; daughter, Liza Lutz; stepson, William Thomas Nelson; stepdaughter, Carolyn Sue Nelson; two step-grandchildren; and an extended family and numerous friends. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
