HAYWARD, J.D., known pool shark and no-nonsense yet characteristically gentle, kind and well-spoken died quietly in his home August 26, 2013. Born in Plant City, Florida on April 3, 1932 to parents Pasadena Hawkins and Brent Hayward, JD forged a life full of adventure, intrigue and mystery. During his life he owned a fleet of airplanes in Alaska, a carburetor shop in South Tampa, multiple motorcycles, raced cars and leased properties in Brandon. He served in the U.S. Air Force and will have a Veterans burial. Always the intellect, he preferred talk about motorcycles, cars and innovative inventions to small talk; friends would find his mostly having Cuban coffee at a local restaurant, or travelling distances to Zephyrhills or Ruskin for his favorite dining spots. He is survived by his loving partner, Shirley Hackle; son, Johnny D. Hayward of Seattle, Washington; and Opal Hayward, sister. Predeceasing him are siblings Jerry Hayward, Joyce Hawkins, and his beloved brother, James B. Hayward who recently left the earth plane May 5, 2013. According to his wishes, interment for JD will be according to simple Islamic traditions at Oaklawn Cemetery in Plant City, Florida 10 AM, Friday, August 30, 2013 with Pastor Bob Kennedy presiding.
