John Mitchell was a loving husband, loving friend, and a well respected predecessor in the greater Tampa Bay recovery community. John recently celebrated 39 years of sobriety earlier this year. John spent many years serving as an alcohol and drug addiction counselor, and was always willing to share his experience, strength, and hope to anyone who was struggling. Besides enjoying time with his wife Jackie, and fellowshipping with his recovery brothers and sisters, John's hobbies included wood working, and different types of carpentry. John's favorite hobby was participating in historical war reenactments. John was an astute military and government historian and an avid collector of artifacts from different time periods. He participated in numerous Spanish Conquistador and American Civil War reenactments throughout the state of Florida for many years.
Most of all, John was a man of unwavering Faith.
A celebration of john's life for John will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home, 2323 West Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511.
