Hey Grier! I know I’m early, better early than forgetting. First I would like to share, my mom passed away in 2024. I had five long years of my mother back in forth to the hospital until she finally passed. I would like to thank you, for being so kind to my mother when she came to visit in Italy. My mother never forgot you. I might not had a chance to say goodbye to you, before you passed, but I make it commitment every year to write something  on this website about you. I lost my mom and a good friend. I love you Grier, and you will never be forgotten.

Today is February 23, 2023. The day I was notified that Grier passed. My friend will never be forgotten.  I am so sorry, I was not there for you in your last moments. I will never forget the fun times we spent in Italy. You will always be remembered, rest in peace. My family will never forget the angel you are.

Life has shown us time & time again it’s hurtful side simple by taking our love ones away from us, especially when we did not see it coming. There is no way for us to make up for the time we have lost & gone forever. However, I hope & pray that wherever you are, you know that you are truly loved & missed. More importantly, I hope that you have found eternal peace.

MSG Grier-Jackson was not only a topnotch soldier, but she was also much more to a lot of us that had the blessing of knowing her.  She was there for me when I thought I couldn't go on anymore in life.  She lifted me up out of that dark hole and inspired me to carry on.  Such a great person and friend, that understood what I was going through at the moment.  Her greatest achievement in life to her was not the 28 years she served but, the birth of her son.  She simply adored him.  If every child had a mother like her, this would be a beautiful world.   She will be missed by many. RIP my dear friend.  Until we meet again

My favorite memories of Johnetta “Heavy Hitter”. Grier was when we use to run together at Fort  Gordon on the weekend and she would always tell me she could spot me a mile away because my head was so big.   She always had me laughing even when we saw each again in Korea.  I’m truly going to miss  her laughter and her spirit. She was a good friend to all and always had me laughing.  My condolences to her family and her best friend “Shady” because I know how they meant to one  another. 


SHARING A MEMORY OF HOW ACTIVELY PARTICIPATING MS. GRIER-JACKSON WAS IN A.I.T.(MILLITARY ACADEMIC TRAINING). ALWAYS SO EAGER TO LEARN BY THE RAISING OF HER HANDS AT ALL AND JUST ABOUT EVERY QUESTION  STATED.  SHE  WAS A LAUGHING RIOT!  WAS A JOY HAVING HER AS A CLASMATE.  SHE WILL BE MISSED.  WHAT A TRUE WARRIOR- HEART, MIND AND SOUL.

Someone once termed Johnnetta as my “Ride or Die”. I only pray that I was that for her. I will miss you always Sis. Rest in Power.

Johnetta "Grier", you'll always be a part of my memories. You were the one that kept everyone connected no matter the distance between us.  I still remember the first day we met in the barracks in Naples, Italy. It was like an inquisition, the questions you asked. Finally, when you learned I'd graduated from Chaminade University, I instantly became "Beth." I know you were pointing out that it was snooty. Yet, I never felt offended, it became a joke between us. I'm truly grateful and happy to have called you a friend.

"Jackson", as I called her we both started working together at the same time in 2019. She will truly be missed. I will be doing a 30 mile bike ride March 26th in her honor.

Johnetta was truly amazing! Even if you were in pain or feeling down, one thing for certain, she’s the cousin that you knew were going to make “you laugh your undies off” whenever she was at the table or in the room…  

Although we’ve communicated often, it’s the texting you a day before you took your last breath that has me more torn. However, I know you’re no longer in pain. 

Please say hello to Grandmommy & Granddaddy Britton, and squeeze our father, YOUR Uncle Harry, from all of us because y’all are no longer suffering from any pain... Amen. 🥲🙏🏽

Johnetta was the best cousin, always so supportive and loving. She will surely be missed. We love you!! 

MSG Grier-Jackson was the consummate professional and a very talented soldier.  I have fond memories of her during my visit to CENTCOM, when she hosted our team; she showed us the utmost hospitality and professionalism.  She was a joy to be around and very fun-loving.  She will be sorely missed.  To her family,  I send my heartfelt condolences and pray for your comfort during this very tough time.

Johnetta will always be cherished and fondly remembered by her classmates. She made a great impact on those who went to classes with her, met her after school and played sports with her. She was very gracious and caring person; a great speller - I remember she was in the Spelling Bee at Northwestern Junior High School; and then she was athletic played basketball, softball, volleyball, track-n-field - you name it, she did it. She always told lil jokes and made people laugh. This is her legacy and we will always remember her and those years we shared together. Though her life was short, it was very impactful. Rest in heavenly peace, Johnetta. The race has been run and the victory is already won.

Prayers and condolences, Grier family.   Johnnetta and I shared a room in the barracks in Panama.  Always nice and quiet.  I was surprised when she became a drill instructor.   Don't underestimate the quiet ones.
