Joseph was born on July 8, 1950 to Evelyn Jardin in Manhattan, New York. After graduating from Smithtown High School on Long Island, New York in 1968, he went on to study Physical Education at the University of Tampa (UT).
After graduating, he landed his first job as a Physical Education teacher at St. John Greek Orthodox School in Tampa.
While at UT, he met Marianne Sbrocco. They wed in 1973. They have 3 children, Elena, Frank and Mary Jo.
In 1980, Joseph fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning his own business. He started Mega’s Gym in Brandon, the first of its kind in the area. It brought together a great group of enthusiasts who still remember those days.
Joseph loved his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews very much. He passed on to all of them a message, the importance of family. He held on to a belief in the Lord through all his sufferings with cancer.
Joseph was predeceased by his father, Alexander Mega and his mother, Evelyn Jardine. He is survived by his wife, Marianne, his three children and seven grandchildren.
