Landon Dair Halstead Sr.

Landon was born on June 19, 1931 in Virginia. After High School he joined the US Air Force. He was stationed at MacDill AFB and married the girl of his dreams, Elizabeth in 1953. They had two children, Jane Jolly and Landon, Jr. After leaving the Air Force, he joined the Tampa Police Department in 1956. He became a detective before retiring after 25 years of service. He finished his work years as a maintenance/janitor at Plant City High School.

After his final retirement, he and his sweetheart wife of 70 years, lived out their remaining time together at their home in Dover. His wife went home to be with our Lord in 2023, then his granddaughter Ciara and her family moved in to care for him until his departure.

Landon was preceded in death by his parents, Landon and Margaret; daughter Jane Jolly, and his beloved wife Elizabeth. He is survived by three grandchildren, Ciara Cary (Adam), Alexis Bodden (Mark), and Brock Johnson; also his son, Landon Jr. and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home 2323 W. Brandon Blvd, Brandon FL 33511 on Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am followed by a graveside service on the same property. Mike Holland will be officiating.
