CROSS, Lila Jean, 81, of Tampa passed away November 13, 2011 at Gulfside Hospice Center. She was a native of San Angelo, Texas and moved to this area in 1955 coming from San Diego, Calif. She was a member and Elder of the Bloomingdale Presbyterian Church. She was active with the Southeast Little League for 18 years; a past president of the Clairmel Elementary P.T.A.; and a past president of the Southeast Women’s Auxillary. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, William and Arnie Gilbreath; husband, John Cross; brother, Garland “Junior” Gilbreath; daughters, Patricia Appleby and Rhonda Appleby and grandson, John Appleby. She is survived by her son, Alan Cross; daughters, Barbara Jean Martin and Mary Palmer; six grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 18, 2011 with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Stowers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Gulfside Hospice.
