A Life of Faith, Love, and Enduring Grace
Mary Louise Pitzer, age 91, entered into the presence of the Lord on December 18, 2025, and she now stands in glory with our Lord and Savior. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Mary’s warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Born April 3, 1934, in IdaMay, W.V. to Una and William Green. She grew up in IdaMay and graduated from Farmington High School in 1951. She married her high school sweetheart, Jack Pitzer, at the age of 18 and would have celebrated 73 years of marriage on December 21, 2025. They traveled some with the Air Force and eventually settled in Alexandria, Va. where she raised five children.
Her nurturing spirit touched countless lives—whether through her gentle words, her ready smile, or her unconditional support. She taught many the truth of God’s word, everlasting love and unending faith. She had a knack for offering guidance and comfort to those in need. She approached every challenge with courage and grace, inspiring those around her to do the same.
Throughout her life, she found joy serving in her church by sharing her love of cooking and baking for special events and the Youth Group. She taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School to many children, along with singing in the church choir for many years. She loved laughing at family gatherings, playing with her grand and great-grandchildren and singing at special events with the Alexandria Chapter of Sweet Adelines women’s group.
She leaves behind a legacy of love. She was cherished by her husband of 72 years, Jack A. Pitzer; children and spouses, Debra Pitzer (decreased), Michael and Linda Pitzer, Scott and Peggy Pitzer, Brenda and Jeffrey Core, Cindy and Carl Smith; grandchildren and their spouses, Michael Pitzer Jr. and Jennifer Shrout, Michele and Lee Windsor, Sean and Alyson Sims, Melissa and Casey Flerlage, Abigail and Nathaniel Hills, Allie and Kyle Hough; great-grandchildren, Mason Pitzer, Ryder Pitzer, Mariah Windsor, Kaylee Windsor, Zoey Windsor, Oliver Hills, Owen Hough, Wyatt Hough; Bella Sims and Oaklynn Sims survived by her sister, Elizabeth Cunningham; and extended family, and many dear friends.
A memorial gathering will be held to honor her memory, where we will gather to share stories, celebrate her life, and say our final goodbyes. Though she may be gone from our sight, we will see her again in heaven. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16
A graveside service will be held 1130 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2025 in Hillsboro Memorial Gardens, 2323 West Brandon Boulevard. Brandon, Florida.
Rest peacefully Mom. Your love and light will guide us always. “Blessed are those who morn, for they shall be comforted”. - Matthew 5:4
Special thank you to our team with AccentCare Hospice and Palliative Care that lovingly cared for mom at home this past year.
