Mertie M. Overlander, 85, passed away Sunday, September 28th, 2025. Mertie had spent the last 20 years living in Tampa, Florida. She was born and raised in Columbus, Georgia, and then spent much of her life living in various locations all over the world with her husband, Walt, who was on active duty with the United States Air Force. She had been an avid bowler, loved baking and arts and crafts.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Walden and sister, Mary J. Morgan.
Survivors include her husband, Walt Overlander; son and daughter-in-law, Brett and Kimberly Overlander; granddaughter, Taryn Overlander; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Mertie will be held on 11 a.m. October 9, 2025, at Stowers Funeral Home, located at 401 West Brandon Boulevard, Brandon, Florida. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
