Michael grew up in North Carolina and Birmingham, Alabama. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Montevallo and went on to serve his country with honor as a Major in the United States Air Force. Over the course of his 20-year military career in aircraft maintenance, he played a key role in the 474th Tactical Fighter Wing (TFW) program, contributing to both the F-111, F-4 and F-16 aircraft platforms. His service was recognized through multiple awards and decorations, including the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, and Air Force Training Ribbon.
Following his retirement from the USAF, Michael transitioned into civilian life with the same commitment and work ethic, spending 15 years at Black & Decker, where he again retired.
A proud member of his college ROTC program, Michael had many passions. He was an avid fisherman, music lover with an extensive record collection, and a man of deep faith in Jesus Christ. He adored his family and was known for his strength, sense of humor, and profound empathy. Michael loved flying and always dreamed of being a pilot. He imparted to his son invaluable life lessons about grace, forgiveness, and honesty. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him—and especially in the open waters, where his son now finds peace through their shared love of fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Alice (Baysinger) Rumore of Birmingham, Alabama, and grandparents, Jachino and Santa Rumore, and Ralph and Marguerite Baysinger.
