

MARSH, Norma Greene Butler, 80, departed this earth for Heaven on December 24, 2013 from her patient care home in Dover, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel “ Sam” Augustus Butler and Mildred Greene Butler and one brother Freeman Augustus “ Gus” Butler of Gray Ga. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, William “Bill” Clay Marsh of Valrico, Fl., two sons, Daniel Butler Marsh and wife Robbie of Apollo Beach, Fl., Cary Allen Marsh and wife Renae of Auburn Ga.; and one daughter, Cathy L. Marsh and husband Alan Kuzel of Palm Harbor, Fl. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Kristen Carrie Schofield and husband Graham of Dunwoody, Ga., David “Clay” Couch of Palm Harbor, Fl., Brett Allen Marsh of Atlanta Ga., Danielle Elise Brooks and husband Rich of St. Augustine, Fl., Christopher Jacob Marsh of Auburn, Ga. Norma was born July 3, 1933 in Gray, Ga. and graduated from Jones County High School in 1950. She attended Bessie Tift College in Forsyth, Ga. for two years and completed her BA in Educations at Mercer University in1954. She obtained a Masters of Education Degree at the University of South Florida in 1975. She and Bill were married in June 1954 and moved to Florida in 1965 where they resided until moving to Franklin, NC in 2003. In 2011 they moved to Valrico, Florida. Norma will be missed by many people and in many ways. She was committed to God, her family, and teaching. She was of the Baptist faith and loved teaching young children throughout her life. She was active in the First Baptist Church of Brandon teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Children’s Church. She was an excellent cook and countless meals were enjoyed by family and friends throughout the years. She also loved gardening and traveling. She thoroughly enjoyed her career in teaching. Norma was a member of the National Beta Club, Kappa Delta Pi, Delta Kappa Gamma, Alpha Psi Omega and the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. She was Hillsborough County Teacher of The Year in 1990-1991. She retired after 22 years in Hillsborough County Schools in 1993 having taught school for 34 years. Some people make this world a better place just by being in it. Norma was one of them. The family will receive friends 10:30-11:30 a.m., with a funeral service at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Brandon. The burial and graveside service will be at a later date at Bradley Baptist Church, Bradley, Georgia.
