Reynold Carl Garrison, Sr.

GARRISON Sr., Reynold Carl “Rey”, 88, peacefully slipped into the presence of the Lord September 13, 2015. Rey was born January 31, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio to Reynold A. Garrison and Linda Muhlke Garrison. Beginning at a young age, Rey worked as an Insurance Agent, then Manager, and later a General Manager at Maccabees Life Insurance, Michigan Life, Aetna Life and Casualty and Jefferson Pilot Life Insurance companies, with a successful career that spanned forty-one years, until his retirement at age sixty-one. Rey and Carolyn married on January 22, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan. After having five children, and living in several suburbs of Detroit, the family moved to Lighthouse Point, Fla. in 1971. Upon Rey’s retirement, they moved to Vero Beach and then in 2001 to Brandon, Fla. He was active in his churches in Vero and Brandon, serving as Elder and Equipper with ChristCare Ministries. Rey was preceded in death by his parents, Reynold A. Garrison, Linda Muhlke Garrison; grandson, Christopher J. Brian. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Carolyn V. Garrison; children, Linda K. Brian (James), Reynold C. Garrison, Jr. (Carolyn), Robert K. Garrison (Loretta), Victoria J. Ginty (Michael), J. Megan Hawkes (Robert); ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015 at First Presbyterian of Brandon, 121 Carver Avenue, Bandon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to First Presbyterian of Brandon in Rey’s memory.
