Shirly Mathew

With deep sorrow and great love, we announce the passing of Shirly Mathew, 48, a beloved wife, mother, and a precious member of the ARISE Church family. On December 4, 2025, she entered her eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and a sincere love for Jesus.

Shirly was born on July 16, 1977, in Chandigarh, India, to Mr. Varugheese Thomas and Mrs. Pushpa Varugheese. She grew up in a loving home with her brother, Matthew Varugheese, creating memories that stayed close to her heart.

She met Pastor George Mathew during a gathering in Queens, New York. He was immediately drawn to her joyful smile and warm spirit. Their friendship grew into love, and they were married on February 6, 1994.

After moving to Florida, they worked together at the U.S. Postal Service while faithfully serving in ministry. They were blessed with two sons, Noah and Isaiah, who brought her endless joy.

Shirly gave her life to Christ at age 19, a decision that shaped her character and her deep love for serving others. When the Lord led Pastor George and Shirly to ARISE Church Brandon, she became a gentle but strong presence within ARISE Church, serving quietly, faithfully, and with a pure heart for God and His people. Her worship was simple and sincere, and many were touched by the love she carried for Jesus.

Shirly loved spending time with her sons. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, crafting, and discovering new places with Noah and Isaiah. Her creativity brought life to birthdays, celebrations, and simple family moments. Her warm hugs, kind words, and caring nature touched everyone she met.

Shirly will be remembered for her gentle heart, her deep faith, and the way she loved without seeking anything in return. She is survived by her husband, Pastor George Mathew, and her sons, Noah and Isaiah.

A visitation service will be held on December 11, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at ARISE Church at Brandon, located at 401 Pauls Dr, Brandon, FL 33511.
