JOHNSON, Fay Rooks, born in Citrus County, Fla. May 30, 1921 entered into rest February 14, 2016. She was preceded in death by husband, George W. Johnson; son, David Lee; son-in-law, Kenneth Thomasson. She is survived by daughters, Winnie Johnson Thomasson of Tallahassee, Fla., Georgiana Johnson Ungaro and husband James of Brevard, N.C..; daughter-in-law, Jonnie Johnson of Durham, N.C.; brother, Herschel Rooks of Madison, Fla.; grandchildren, Sean Thomasson (Sarah) of Atlanta, Ga., Shelby Johnson of Durham, N.C., Tyler Johnson of Chapel Hill, N.C.; great-granddaughter, Tindell Faith Thomasson. Fay was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She graduated from the Florida State College for Women in 1944 with a degree in Home Economics. She was a Home Economics teacher at Mann Jr. High School for 20 years, and a member of Business and Professional Women. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Brandon. A funeral service will be held 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to FUMCH-Madison Youth Ranch, 51 Children's Way, Enterprise, FL 32725-8186 in Fay’s memory.
