

Born November 11, 1932, Dad died unexpectedly after a short illness on Saturday, September 30th, 2017 at the Brantford General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved and devoted husband of the late Alyce (nee Procter) for 61 yrs. Loving father of Dr. Rosemarie Kennaley (Tom Lemon), Dan (Jan), Martin (Monica), Charles, Michael (Mary), Joy and Brendan (Dianne). Grandfather to fifteen and Great-Grandfather of two. Known as “Uncle Bud” he will be sadly missed by siblings Gerry Forjan, Joan LeMaitre (John Jenne), Lee (Henry Dekker), Marilu (Don) Pancoe, David (Barb) and sister-in-laws Joyce Stemmler and Hilda Procter. Predeceased by parents Mary and Charles and sister Sue (Richy) Kislosky and brother-in-law Paul LeMaitre. Dan was an avid fisherman, videographer and naturalist. Dan and Alyce loved cottage life and the great outdoors. Their passions now live on in their children and grandchildren. He was known for his wit and wisdom. A man of deep faith, he counselled people from many different walks of life over the years. Dan had a long career as an electrician in the Brantford area and donated his services to family, friends and church. Thank you to Father Mike Bennett and our many close friends for their love and support. The family will receive friends at the “THORPE BROTHERS’ FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL”, 96 West St., on Wednesday, October 4th, 2017 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Basil’s Roman Catholic Church, 50 Palace St., on Thursday, October 5th, 2017 at 12:30pm. Cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Grand River Conservation Foundation, St. Basil’s Church or Sacred Heart Church would be appreciated by the family.
