Doris (Gillen) MacNeil

It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Doris Eleanor (Gillen) MacNeil on Thursday March 3, 2016 at the Brantford General Hospital in her 92nd year. Daughter of the late Magistrate Reginald Gillen and Mabel Broomfield. She has been reunited with her beloved husband Alex MacNeil (1997) and daughter Margaret Ann (1955). Mourning her loss are her children, Joanne, Rita, Cathy (Louie), Dan (Janice), Jean, Jim (Lori), Teresa (Mel) and Carol. Her grandchildren Eva (Kris), Katie (Colin), Michael, Lauren, Michael (Karin), D. Alex, Alex, Jordan, Jenna, Jake, Matthew, Andrew, Cole and Hannah. Great-nana to Louis, Anastasia and Bennett. Sister of Mary (Mel) and Bill (Ann) and predeceased by several brothers and sisters and she will be remembered by other family members. Doris was a long time court reporter for over 50 years.

The family will receive friends at the “THORPE BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME and CHAPEL” 96 West Street on Monday March 7th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Parish prayers at the funeral home at 7:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 133 Murray Street on Tuesday March 8, 2016 at 10:30 am. Interment, St. Joseph’s Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
