On behalf of Wilfrid Laurier University, I want to express my sincere sympathy to hear of Edward's passing.  Edward was a great supporter of education and of Laurier's campus in Brantford.  He will be missed.

Our Deepest Sympathy to Agnes and to Ed's siblings and their families.  We have wonderful memories of two trips to Prince Edward Island, taken in the 1970's and 1980's when Ed and Agnes and their families showed us such warm hospitality!  I remembered Ed's mother cooked us the most wonderful fish supper.  We enjoyed picking blueberries, walking in and out of the caves by the beach, singing around the campfire, and so much more!  Ed and Agnes were great supporters of the Grand River Chorus and could always be found in the audience whenever we sang with the choir.  May Ed rest in peace!  Elfrieda and David Neumann


I have such fond memories of Mr. Laughlin as our Badminton coach at PJ.  He was a kind and caring person that was an asset to the school and the badminton players especially. He ensured that we had the right equipment and encouraged us at practices and tournaments.  

Mr Laughlin was a great teacher and my Badminton Coach at PJ Highschool in the 1970’s. Gentile and generous with his students and players. Rest in Peace Coach.

So sorry to hear the passing of Ed Laughlin. He was my Badminton Coach in High School at Pauline Johnson High School. He was a very dedicated coach. Thank you Mr Laughlin!!  Astrid Sant- Noonan

Sending my sympathy to Aunt Agnes. I recall happy memories of sitting around at Dad's place enjoying a beer and lots of laughs. May happiness and comfort come from knowing that Edward lived a life well lived, sharing his time and treasure with his beloved Catholic community in Brantford and donating a parcel of land to the Island Nature Trust of Prince Edward Island. May he rest in peace and enjoy eternal life with all the dead. 

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,

4 generations of Laughlin’s in this photo, that was taken last summer on our visit to Ontario.  Edward was an amazing man and cared dearly for his family. He would always correct us everytime we called him our ‘great uncle’ Edward, and that he was our ‘granduncle’ by Edward every year that it happened. Just like we called Errol our grandfather.  He is deeply missed. 

So sorry to hear of Mr. Laughlin’s passing.  He has been an active and integral part of our St. Mary’s Church parish for more than sixty-five years.  A life well lived and he will be missed.  My sincerest condolences to you, Agnes. 🙏


It is with great sadness that we learned of Edward's passing away and we offer Agnes our most sincere condolences. It was a privilege to know and befriend Edward. A beautifull person and wonderfull human being. We will cherish wonderfull memories of Agnes and Edward's stop overs in Montreal on their way to the Garden of the Gulf as our mother would call the Island. Their visits would instantly put a radiant smile on her face.  Rarely have we seen such a loving and united couple whom we admired  and held in  the highest regard. We will keep Agnes in our prayers and wish her the strengh to continue, in spite of her cruel loss, to enjoy life, without her loving and loyal companion.
