

Peacefully and surrounded by the love of her family at Juravinski Hospital on Wednesday November 7, 2012 in her 98th year. Predeceased by her husband Richard Harold Van Sickle. Loving mother of Ruth (Herb) Hamilton, Roy (deceased) (Barb) Van Sickle, Audrey (Bill) Brown and Ann Bassett. Fondly remembered by Don Bassett. Dear grandma of 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandsons. Predeceased by brother Leo Van Sickle and sisters Marie Smith, Cora Hewitson and Alta Van Sickle. Survived by sister-in-law Violet Van Sickle and several nephews and nieces. Iva was a lifelong member of Jerseyville Baptist Church and was honoured to become a member of Jerseyville United Church in her adult years. She was a charter member of the Patricia Women’s Institute and the Jerseyville United Church Women. She also belonged to the Ancaster Senior Achievement Centre and Jerseyville Baptist W.M.S. Iva made many life long friends of all ages through her leadership in the local 4H clubs. Her love of learning saw her at the age of 90 join the Lynden Horticultural Society. She was known affectionately throughout the wider community as Grandma Van or Aunt Iva. Heartfelt thanks to Clare Aiken, the Summer family and the entire staff of Highgate Retirement Residence for their exemplary care of our Mother. Mom was honoured to live in the “Garden of Eden” and your kindnesses will never be forgotten. Special thanks to Mariola whom she loved as another daughter.
The family will receive friends at the “THORPE BROTHERS’ FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL”, 96 West St., Brantford on Saturday November 10th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Jerseyville United Church on Sunday November 11th at 2:00 pm. Interment Stenabaugh Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Jerseyville Baptist Church or Jerseyville United Church would be appreciated.
