It is with profound sadness that the Terry family announces the sudden passing of Robert D Terry on May 15 2023, in his 83rd year. Survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Sharon, and his children Catherine (Joe), Maureen (Jay), Lauren (Michael), and Colleen (Kevin) and predeceased by his son Rob (2013). “Chip” will be fondly remembered by his brothers Herb (Miriam) and Mark, and their families.
Bob was a life member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, and in 1962 at the age of 22, was the youngest student ever to pass the exams. After moving to Brantford from Toronto in 1968, Bob became an active member of the community serving on many parish councils, was a lifetime member of the Third Order of the Knights of Columbus, served as a member and Chairman of the Board of Trustees for St Joseph’s Hospital for many years, was a longstanding Treasurer of Birthright for 38 years and more recently, a founding member of the Gretzky “Senate”. His legacy is a faith-filled life of service and love which cultivated deep wisdom, a sharp wit and dry sense of humour that will now live on through his 19 grandchildren - they who were his pride and joy.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday May 23 from 6:30 - 9:00 PM at "THORPE BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME" 96 West Street, with Vigil prayers beginning at 8 PM. The rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday May 24 at 11:00 AM at St Basil’s Roman Catholic Church with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to St Joseph’s Lifecare Foundation (Hospice) are appreciated. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.thorpebrothersfh.com.
