

Frederick (Maniya) Turner, 60, of Bremerton passed away on September 28, 2012 at his residence. He was born to Roman McKey and Olee Reynolds in Carrollton, GA. on September 28, 1952. He attended High School in Munice, Indiana and Olympic College in Bremerton. He married Mildred Louise on March 28, 1997 in Bremerton. He started as an A.T.E. operator at Keyport in 1979 progressing from a WG6 to WG11 working programs such as BQQ-5 Sonar, MK-46 Exercise Head, SLMM, and retired as an Electronics Technician at the MK 30 Program. He served on active duty in the Navy from 1971-1979 and in the Reserves from 1979-1981. He served as a Sonarman aboard the USS Fulton; SSBN Robert E. Lee in Hawaii; SSBN Thomas Jefferson in New London; SSN flying fish where he was Honorably discharged while stationed at the Naval Station Sand Point, Seattle, WA. after 8 years of service. He was a member of Sinclair Missionary Baptist Church serving on the Usher Board and worked as president of the Usher Board for 4 years; a member of the United Christian Church Ushers; the local Chapter of the NAACP, Blacks in Government, and started a local youth Out-Reach Program “Can See A Difference.” He enjoyed playing poker, the harmonica, darts and pool, listening to old school R&B, Jazz and some hip hop, studying his Bible, and reading books of all topics. He is preceded in death by his daughter Sharon Tyler. He is survived by his wife Mildred Louise Thomas Bynes Turner; son Robert Turner; step-son Preston (Trish) Bynes; son-in-law Ricky Tyler; daughters Marsha (Will) David, Shanta Turner, Capri Turner; step-daughter Earlene Bynes; sister Virginia Jones of Carrollton, GA. 17 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family members and special friends. There will be Visitation at Miller Woodlawn Funeral Home on Friday, October 5, 2012 from 5:00-7:00PM. Funeral Services will be held at Sinclair Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 12:05pm with Grave side services following at Miller Woodlawn Memorial Park.
