Gladys Marie Forsythe was born July 1, 1925 in Pierre, South Dakota to Ambrose E. and Fannie M. Forsythe. She attended Pierre schools and graduated from Pierre Senior High in 1943. On November 26th, 1943 she was married to George Carroll. To this union was born one daughter, Karen, in 1945. After 69 years of marriage, George passed away in January 2013. Gladys worked as an Optometric Assistant for Dr. F.W. Denton before moving to Federal Way, WA in 1969. She was employed by Miller Cascade (now Food Service of America) for 17 years before retiring in 1986. Church was a great part of her life. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Des Moines, for 41 years. They moved to Poulsbo, WA in 2010 to be closer to their daughter. They joined the North Kitsap Baptist Church in 2010. She is survived by her son-in-law, Dick Smith, of Kingston, WA; Granddaughters Shannon Smith and Jolene (Neal) O'Connell; Great grandchildren Kaitlynn and Wyatt Smith, Aiden O'Connell, Brian O'Connell; and 2 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Clara Mae Hoffman of Highmore, SD and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter.
