

Michael’s Medical Center. His family held constant vigil over him in his last days and were at his side at his passing.
Jim was born in Eveleth, MN to Charles and Pauline Karosich in 1938. He spent his childhood there, graduated from high school and junior college and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Administration from the University of Minnesota. Following his Uncle Harry, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1961 as an officer in the Supply Corps, earning a Master’s Degree in Computer Systems Management from the Naval Postgraduate School. A Vietnam veteran, Jim proudly served his country for 26 years, retiring at the rank of Commander in 1987. After retirement from the Navy, he enjoyed a second career with Seattle City Light.
As a devout Catholic, Jim served as usher at Holy Trinity Catholic Church for over two decades. Jim was a kind and generous man and gave back to the community through his service with the Bremerton Central Lions Club and Citizens on Patrol, as well as cooking at the Benedict House and supporting several charities financially. He was a life member of Lions International having been a member for 50 years.
Jim married Roberta Martinetto in 1965 and together they had 5 children. The family traveled by camper around the U.S., eventually visiting every state and state capitol. In retirement he and Roberta continued to travel visiting every continent, ocean, numerous European and Asian countries and the North and South Poles. His favorites were Antarctica, South Africa, and ocean cruising.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, aunts and uncles, and dear friends Pepper Debevec and John Vergoth. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Roberta, his children: Kevin (Sheri) Karosich of Gardnerville, NV; Barbara (Mike) Gile of Rio Rancho, NM; Kimberlee Hudson of Issaquah, WA; Brian (Katie) Karosich of Coronado, CA; Darin (Jen) Karosich of Issaquah, WA, 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. To them, he was “Pops” and “Gramps”.
Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Trinity Church in Bremerton Washington on Wednesday January 22nd at 10:30 a.m. The following day, Thursday January 23rd, at 11:00 a.m., Jim will be laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Michael’s for their extraordinary care, kindness and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fred Hutch Cancer Center, Bremerton Central Lions Club, Citizens on Patrol or Benedict House.
