John Robert Furtado was born in Hayward, CA to John and Helen Furtado. He joined the US Navy when he was 17 years old. He was a crew member on several carriers. He received several awards for his services including being a Plank Owner for the USS Midway. He retired as a BT1 after 20 years of Honorable service. John was the owner of a car dealership, known as Lil John’s Auto for 10 years in Bremerton, WA. Lil John was an active bowler in the Bremerton and Port Orchard area and served as President for several years. John loved to bowl and was on 5 leagues at one time, until his heart took a turn for the worse and he was not able to bowl any more. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Lil John was survived by his three daughters, Debbie Imes of San Saba, TX, Mary Anne Sheppard of Port Orchard, WA, and Michelle Furtado of Belfair, WA; six grandchildren, Brandy, Sherry, Jakob, Amee, Raychl, and Sarah and ten great-grandchildren. Military Honors will commence at Miller-Woodlawn on August 18, 2011 at 11a.m. Please come join us in Celebrating Lil Johns’ life and to share your words and memories among family and friends on Saturday August 20th, 2011, at 5044 SW Lake Helena Rd, Port Orchard, WA from noon to 4 p.m. Contact # 360-876-6765.
