Kenneth Ralph Croover passed away on 01/08/2018 in Tacoma, Washington. He was born 07/03/1948 to Ernest and Amy (Dunn) Croover in Bremerton, Washington, where he lived most of his 69 ½ years. He graduated from Bremerton High School in 1966, then earned a bachelor’s degree at Western Washington State College. He briefly worked for his father’s adjustment service business while obtaining a teacher’s certificate at the University of Washington, followed by a long career working for Kitsap County schools.
Ken was a big baseball fan. His team was the Mariners, but he also supported local Kitsap teams, including the Bluejackets and Olympic College Rangers. He enjoyed attending the games, rain or shine, with his brother Kerry, daughters and grandsons. He knew just about every baseball stat and had a knack for remembering details that he loved to share with people. This love of learning extended to every aspect of life, and his mind was quite the treasure trove of knowledge.
Among his many hobbies and interests was building new Lego sets before his daughters would use the pieces for their own creative building. He had an impressive Lego table that was the envy of all the neighborhood children. In addition to Legos, he collected stamps, baseball cards, books, coins, classical music cassette tapes, and many other things. In his youth he enjoyed building model cars and playing the saxophone.
Ken’s two daughters were his world. He was a fantastic storyteller. He created an entire world in a chronicle of bedtime stories in which they were brave Space Princesses. With his stories he instilled a deep love for reading and for fiction storytelling. Ken never ceased to find a lesson to teach. His daughters, students, family, friends and acquaintances certainly benefited from his generous and creative intellect.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents. He will be greatly missed by his brothers, Kerry Croover of Bremerton, Carl Croover of Port orchard, Keith Croover of Bremerton, and Bert Croover of Riddle, Or. daughters, Nesta (Sevren) Olson of The Dalles, Or and Bobbi (Andy) Lohse of Honolulu, Hi, grandsons Zerin, Kaplin, Easten, Hayden and Remy, and granddaughters Brandy and Sage Kenna. No services will be held, per his request. Instead, we ask that you connect and share with family and friends memories you have of Ken.
