

Lawrence served his country in the United States Army. He was a strong man of faith and worked hard his whole life to care for his family. He was and engineer in the shipyard and enjoyed playing the harmonica, especially in his younger years. He had a green thumb and enjoyed watching sports and westerns in his free time, as well as being a member of his Church, St Claire Missionary Baptist.
Lawrence was also preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Lillian Baker; his son, Lawrence Baker Jr.; daughter, Donna Ford; and numerous siblings. He is survived by his son Chris Baker; grandchildren: Tatyana, Anthony, Sadie, Domonic, Tamela, Tanesha, Ashanta, Donita; and numerous great-grandchildren and other relatives.
The family invites you to join them as they honor and celebrate his life at Miller Woodlawn Funeral Home with a visitation beginning Monday, August 12, 2024 at 12pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1pm with interment following in Miller Woodlawn Memorial Park.
