Robert (Bob) Sylvester Boddie Sr. peacefully departed this life at his home on August 2, 2025, at the age of eighty-eight. Born June 9, 1937, in Washington DC, to Mary and Cleo Boddie, Bob completed high school at Dumbar High before earning an Associates of Art degree at Olympic College in Bremerton, Washington.
Joining the Navy at an early age of eighteen in 1955 gave Bob the opportunity to travel the world and meet long-lasting friends including his soon-to-be wife, Dorothy Lee Dixon. Stationed on the USS Enterprise Bob and Dorothy found themselves in Bremerton, Washington in 1964 where they raised their three children Michel, Robert, and Tony. After twenty years of active service and twenty-one years of inactive service Bob retired from Bangor Submarine base.
One of Bob’s joys was gardening where he grew fabulous vegetables he shared with family and friends. The most popular item from his garden was tree collard greens enjoyed by many. Bob also liked to listen to all types of music, fish, and receive free meals and gaming from the casino. He was a member of Emmanuel Apostolic Church where he found Christ after the passing of Dorothy. He touched the lives of many including his close friends, neighbors, and others throughout the community. Bob will be deeply missed.
Bob is survived by daughter Michel, son Tony (Laurie), brother James (Claudia), nieces and nephews, eleven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
Services for Bob will be at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home on August 22nd. Viewing begins at 11am with services at 1pm. A Celebration of Life will follow the service at 3pm, at McCloud’s, 4111 Wheaton Way, Bremerton.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to please donate to the charity of your choice.
