Stanley Raymond Smith III, 72 of Silverdale, Washington; passed away on November 9th 2023. He was born on January 15th 1951 to Stan and Millan Smith in Bremerton, Washington.
Stan (or Ray as he was known by family and friends) was a lifelong resident of Kitsap County. His childhood years he grew up on the shores of the Hood Canal, forming a bond with the fjord that he cherished all his life. He would go on to spend countless hours on that body of water, enjoying every minute of it.
Growing up, Ray attended Silverdale Elementary in Silverdale, Coontz Junior High in Bremerton and West Bremerton High School graduating June of 1969. After high school, Ray continued his education at Western Washington University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree.
Soon after, in July of 1976, Ray began his career at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, where he began as an apprentice and after 33 years of federal service retired as a quality assurance inspector.
Throughout his life Ray found joy in many activities. From camping with friends at Ocean Shores, to crazy ski trips to Steven’s pass; he tried his best to make lasting memories. He was a pool shark, a ping pong champion, a master of cribbage, a music connoisseur, and a true mechanic who could fix just about anything.
But the happiest you would ever see him was when he would be “skippering” his boat around the canal with his “crew”. Whether it was shrimping or crabbing he would always enjoy just being out on the water, cracking jokes and talking story with the friends he made throughout his years.
Ray is survived by his: Mother- Millan, Sister and Brother-in-law- Linda and Steve, Sons- Arron and Collin, Grandsons- Gabe, Declan and Dylan, Daughter in laws- Tori and Vern.
The family is still working on his final arrangements and people will be notified soon.
You will be dearly missed, Ray.
