Our mother Sylvia Garcia was the most loving, compassionate, hard working, strong woman we knew. She also had this fierce loyalty and protective personality with a tad bit of stubbornness. She had a beautiful smile with her beautiful full lips. She had the prettiest of skin and she made friends wherever she went really, those who knew her whether you were a family member or a friend knew she could be counted on and they knew about her stubborn side as well.
She was a mother who took care of us when we were sick and disciplined us when we were naughty. We never wanted for anything, and she for the most part did it all on her own working two jobs and coming home and making sure we still had dinner on the table. That’s just who she was. She will be sorely missed by all of us.
She loved all types of music, but her favorite were the oldies, and her favorite song was from Gregory Abbott “Shake you down” as well as “The Temptations” and boy did she love a good Cachi Cachi song so she could dance to. My brothers always said she made them the men they are today. For me she taught me how to be a mother, a friend, and a wife and to stand up for myself no matter what. Below are a few quotes that are a reminder of her.
All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my mother.
I Believe in Love at first Sight, because
I loved my Mom since I opened my Eyes….
Not Always Eye to Eye
But always Heart to Heart
Mother: One person who does the work of twenty, for free.
“A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.”
“But there's a story behind everything. How a picture got on a wall. How a scar got on your face. Sometimes the stories are simple, and sometimes they are hard and heartbreaking. But behind all your stories is always your mother's story, because hers is where yours begin.”
Mom we love you with all our hearts and soul. We will miss you terribly. Rest in love and peace, and we will meet again.
A Celebration of Life will be held July 10th; the time and the place are still pending.
