

Any man can make a rate, but only God can make a boatswain mate. Tom set sail to join his father Thomas R. Watkins, His mother Mary A. Watkins Hoover and his son Keith T. Watkins. He left in this port and in his wake his wife of 48 years, Ann of the family home. His son Jerry with Debbie, His daughters: Roe with Fred, Jacque with Eddie, Sandy with Klaus. 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Sister Joyce Hoover who was preceded by death Spouse Ed. Nephews: Mark, Shawn, Scott, and Niece Missy. 6 great nephews and one great niece.
Tom was born, raised and educated in Penn. Joined the U.S. Navy, served 20 years and attended Olympic College and earned a BA in Police Science. Joined the U.S. Government security department and served 20 years. During this time was Co-owner of the USS Missouri shuttle service in Bremerton. Tom had a brief career in the Merchant Marines.
Tom was a starting member of the Fraternal Order of Police (Evergreen Lodge 1). Served as a secretary and president for 2 terms. Tom was also a member of the Fleet Reserve Association branch 29 and served 2 terms as president. Tom was also a member of the American Legion post 149, Veterans of foreign war- Post 249, Tom also spent several years of both the Guam and Washington State Officials Association, as a umpire of Baseball and Softball. Member of American Society of Industrial Security, member of National Maritime union of America, AFL-CIO and member of Service employees union.
By Toms request he wanted to be laid to rest with no services. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Harrison Hospital Foundation Fund, Hospice, American Cancer Society, Fleet Reserve Association (Branch 29) Scholarship Fund, Fraternal Order of Police (Evergreen Lodge 1) Scholarship Fund and American Legion (post 149) Scholarship Fund, Or a charity of your choice in Tom’s name.
