A day of remembrance for my beloved friend Adelaide Paige Givens.  You are forever missed.

I will truly miss Adelaide , she has been like a Grandmother to me for over 45 years.  I met her when I was a teenager when my Mom began working with Adelaide at the Library. When I was 19 years old I began my career working at the Library. She always looked out for me and advised me about both my career and life. We always attended events, parties, and birthday celebrations with each others families. Adelaide will always hold a dear place in my heart and I will truly miss our talks and special moments we've shared.   My sincere condolences and love to her family and friends.

It is with a heavy heart for us to say farewell to Adelaide, who always had special place in her heart for my daughter Robyn.  Even as her health declined, she would call Robyn asking her pick up little trinkets for her,  just so they could visit and talk.  She was a friend and a colleague for over twenty years. I met Adelaide at DC Public Library many years ago and we shared a wonderful friendship over years as co-workers and ultimately retirees. She was quick witted, always dressed to impressed and rocking her high heels as long as she could. It was a pleasure to meet her beautiful family, enjoy her great parties, play softball Candi, her lovely daughter who left this earth far too soon, and to see her granddaughter Tiffany grow up to be an amazing and accomplished young woman, the heartbeat and apple of Adelaide's eyes.  May she rest in God's loving arms and I pray that her treasured memory bring comfort to those she loved and loved her in return.

I remember the day, this wonderful soul walked into the salon. And asked to see me, for she needed someone to do her grandchild’s hair. And then her daughter’s as well. 

And since that moment, on, I always felt part of a wonderful family. And truly blessed to have known this powerful woman, full of grace and wisdom and style.  Forever a smile, and a good laugh, she would share with all that touched her heart.

 I share in your sadness.   Adelaide will be missed by me especially, as well as her many family members and  friends.  It is hard to believe our social butterfly and sophisticated lady is gone.  I will always admire her strength, perseverance, and dedication to family and friends.

When my mom passed Ms.P became  my adopted  second  mom. Her daughter candi was my adopted baby sister  will miss you both .RIP . Love ❤️

I didn’t know Mrs. Givens throughout her earlier years, but I had the great opportunity of meeting her late in her life. It was always a great experience to sit and talk to her. On days when I was having a bad day, she always put a smile on my face, not knowing that she brightened my day. Her laughter and positive vibrations are infectious. Tiffany: she loved you more than anything! Sending you prayers of love, light, and strength during this time.
