

A true Washingtonian, Charles (affectionately called Gene, Charlie, Pop, Pa-Pa) loved his family, the Redskins, steamed crabs, grilling/cooking, watching anything sports related and making jokes.
Growing up in Southwest DC, he met and married Ernestene Williams. Of this union, they had two children, Teryl and Erika.
He attended Cardoza High School and upon graduation, he joined the Army. After his service in the military, he worked for the United States Postal Service, then eventually leaving public service to be a Warehouse Supervisor with Eagle Mat Floor Products where he worked for more than 20 years.
In 1981, while grilling on the patio of his Atlantic Street, SE apartment, he met Doris Seymore and after a long courtship, the two married and blended their families.
Gene is proceeded in death by his parents, Mildred and Charles, his brother Buddy Ewing, his wife, Doris and son Teryl. He is survived by his daughter Erika Liverpool Brown, his step-daughters Barbara Washington and Latasha Jacocks (Jerel), his grandchildren James Williams, Tyrel Gannt, Tareka Tyson(Jason), Daquan McLaughlin, Aiesha Walston, Teryl Jr., James Walston, Teriquan, Destinie, Nakayla, DJ and Teryniah, his great-grandchildren Marley, Aiden, Jamison, Taylor, Maya, Scott and Aleah and hos of aunts, uncles and cousins.
