Mrs. Dessie Mae Humphries was born on January 16th, 1933, in Gaffney, South Carolina to the late Bessie Mickens Phillips and Tom Phillips. She held many titles daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin and aunt. In 1945 Dessie met L.B. Tragically, due to a car accident in 1966, Dessie lost her husband L.B. she became the matriarch of the Humphries family life without her now will truly be different. The passion for life she showed through her acts of giving towards the family and friends and anyone who came to know her is most memorable. Dessie enjoyed cooking southern meals and had a love of sewing homemade quilts. No matter what she would often say” If you want something done right you have to do it yourself”. Our beloved mother and grandmother lived to the wonderful age of ninety-one years old a life full of wisdom, resiliency, deep conviction and compassion. Dessie enjoyed laughing with her great-grandchildren and watching her favorite soap All My Children. We celebrate our beloved Dessie Mae many years of happiness, joy and profound memories.
