

It is with great sadness that the family of Georgia Elizabeth Patterson announce her passing on October 10, 2025 at the age of 77. Georgia was a loving wife and mother of three. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Georgia was born on February 25, 1948 in Frankfurt, Germany to the late Sergeant William Foeman, US Army, and Katharina Sybilla Gladbach.
In her early childhood Georgia’s father was stationed back in the United States. She and her mother lived in Frankfurt until 1956 when they boarded a ship in Hamburg, Germany to come to the US. The family was reunited and lived in Northeast Washington, DC. Georgia attended Noyes and Bunker Hill Elementary School where she learned to speak English.
The Army sent Sgt. Foeman back to Europe in 1959. Georgia and Katie packed up again and the family spent the next four years in Verdun, France. Their family returned to DC in 1963. Georgia attended and graduated from Anacostia High School. Her father died in 1965. Georgia and her mother decided to remain in DC so she could finish her senior year and attend college. She attended DC Teacher’s College in 1966. It was there that she met and married the love of her life, Richard Patterson, two years later.
Among her accomplishments, Georgia was crowned the Mardi Gras Queen of the 1968 Omega Psi Phi Fraternity local chapter.
Additionally, an educator her entire work career, Georgia taught at Bundy and Scott Montgomery Elementary Schools. She retired in 2008 after 37 years with DC Public Schools having taught grades 2-6 and holding several other positions such as: Resource Teacher, Computer Lab Teacher, Math Resource Teacher, Gifted & Talented Coordinator, and School Librarian.
Georgia and Richard have been married for 57 years. They have three children: Angela Val, Stephanie Dziadek, and Richard Patterson, Jr. She also leaves behind Jenna Lingad, her son-in-law Joseph Val, and the new loves of her life, her grandchildren Katie Elisabeth Dziadek and Marzden Lynx Patterson
A visitation will be held on October 24, 2025, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, located at 3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, Maryland, 20722. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, the Patterson family respectfully requests contributions be made in honor of Georgia Elizabeth Patterson to the Rheumatology Research Foundation.
