

James was born in Chester County, SC to the late Kathleen Tigler and Willie Hames on July 27, 1940. Presiding his parents (Kathleen & Willie) death his Aunt Leola and John Wilkes raised him.
James is survived by his sister Lois Gray of Upper Marlboro, Md. He leaves to cherish fond memories and proud father of three wonderful daughters Anita Joseph, Upper Marlboro, Md, Debbie Maddox (Reggie) Waldorf, Md, Danielle Felix, Washington, DC and one handsome son James Hames, Jr. Upper Marlboro, Md, two handsome grandsons Keith Joseph, II and Aubree Joseph, two little precious granddaughters Sidney Maddox and Sameera Felix also ex-wife Vivian Hames of 41 years along with one favorite brother-in-law Clarence Lowrance, Jr. (Linda) with several nieces and two nephews, cousins and a host other relatives and friends.
James moved to Washington, DC after graduating from Finley High School, SC. He was a very hard worker for many years. He was a family man and above all else a provider, protector, and proclaimed his love daily to his family. He worked as a baker for years, also a Ryder truck driver and Yellow Cab Taxi 163 up to his illness. He loved waiting at the airport for a fare to talk to people about everything from politics to sports and the great city of Washington, DC and he was a Redskin enthusiast. For a man with a high school diploma you would have thought he was scholar.
