James Edward Webster Jr.

13 febrero, 1946 – 30 noviembre, 2020
Obituario de James Edward Webster Jr.
EN EL CUIDADO DE

Fort Lincoln Funeral Home & Cemetery

James Edward “Jimmy” Webster Jr., the son of the late James Edward Webster Sr. and Ellen M. Walker Webster was born on February 13, 1946 in Washington D.C., where he attended D.C. public schools. Jimmy held several jobs in the D.C. area, one of his first jobs being at Clark Filming Company where he worked with his father. He also worked at the Census Bureau, in Suitland MD.

In 1968, Jimmy met Susan Johnson. The couple joined in holy matrimony on May 3, 1969. To this union was born one daughter (Renee) and one son (Derek). Jimmy was a devoted husband that didn’t mind doing household chores. He was also a caring and nurturing father to his children starting when they were infants. He walked them to and from elementary school. He was also a good cook that prepared his children’s meals in their adolescent years, and later on, packing his daughter’s meals for her return to Morgan State from her weekend visits.

Jimmy suffered a stroke in 2010 that left him with many disabilities, but through it all, he remained an avid Washington Redskins and Wizards fan. He intently watched the games and a variety of other sporting events from his favorite living room chair, with an iced cold Pepsi by his side. He was a Pepsi fanatic, definitely preferring Pepsi over water. Jimmy also had the remarkable ability to remember and play his favorite Maryland Pick 3 lottery numbers, of which he was often a winner.

Over the past 10 years, Jimmy was hospitalized numerous times, always fighting his way back home. His son lovingly cared for him daily and attended to his every need. His daughter was a true “daddy’s girl” and he never let a day go by without calling her, promptly at 9:00 p.m. On November 30, 2020, at the Washington Hospital Center, Jimmy’s long fight ended.

Jimmy leaves to mourn his memory his dedicated wife of 51 years, Susan “Sue” A, Johnson Webster, Hyattsville, MD; one daughter Renee Joi Webster, (Daniel Jackson) Riverdale, MD; one son, Derek Keith Webster, Hyattsville, MD; two sisters: Carrie Jametta Henderson, Suitland, MD; and Ellen Novella Wells, Brandywine, MD; one brother, Aaron Clifford Webster Sr., Washington, D.C.; one sister-in-law Carrie Johnson Gravely, White Plains, MD; one brother-in-law James E. Johnson, (Lena), Dale City, VA; his lifelong friends: Rezan Taylor and Daniel ”June” Garvin, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
