John F. Rich Jr.

On Friday, January 15, 2021, John passed away at Cadia Health Care, due to heart failure, at the age of 59 years. John was preceded by his Father John Franklin Rich, Jr., Mother Barbara Anne Rich, Grandfather James Excell Johnson, Grandmother Marcella Russell Johnson, Stepfather Howard David, and Uncle Howard (aka Drag) Johnson. John was born and raised in Washington, DC, and attended Drew Elementary, Evans Junior High, and H.D. Woodson Senior High schools. John held several jobs through Mayor Marion Barry’s Summer Youth Program, and later began full-time employment at Gallaudet College in N.E. DC, for a few years, and then accepted a position in the maintenance department at Grant Park Nursing Home, in N.E. D.C. John held several other maintenance jobs—for different apartment complexes throughout the DMV, and he was a true Washingtonian… with great love for Go-Go music, Kowloon’s chicken wings and mumbo sauce, and women. John loved his family!

John will be lovingly remembered by his Children John F. Rich, III, Jamaal J. Rich, Daughter-in-law Fallon Rich (Jamaal’s wife), Jordan Rich, Delonte A. Wallace, Kyra Rich, Selena Sterling (Stepdaughter), his Ex-Wife Deidra Rich, his Granddaughters Jayla, Jaliya, and Jazlyn Rich (Jamaal and Fallon’s Children), his Sisters & Brothers Marcella Rich, Loretta A. Carry, Tony A. Rich, Carles L. Rich, Deborah A. Rich-Lindsay, Eugenia M. Rich-Martin, and a host of other family members.
