

Lori Ann Edley was born on February 19, 1963, to Lee Ethel Jackson and the late Jimmy D. Bradford. Lori peacefully entered the presence of the Lord on September 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Lori grew up in Washington, DC, where she attended DC Public Schools. She graduated from Eastern Senior High School and later pursued her education at The University of the District of Columbia. In 1981, Lori began her career with the Department of Agriculture, all while continuing her studies. She eventually transitioned to the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, where she dedicated 38 years to a career she loved before retiring.
Lori married Carlton Edley in November 1984 in Washington DC. In 1988 they welcomed their daughter, Mallori and in 1995 their son, CJ.
Lori was a devoted member of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church, serving as a prayer warrior and Girl Scout Troop Leader. Her love for arts and crafts played a significant role in her work with the Girl Scouts, where she helped foster creativity and community spirit. Lori's passion for travel extended to the Girl Scouts as well, leading her troop on memorable trips to places such as New York City, Atlanta, GA, and Orlando, FL. She was also deeply involved in creating keepsakes, memories, organizing community projects, and crocheting .
Family was always central to Lori's life. She cherished family vacations, including annual trips to Massanutten and Williamsburg, Virginia, and traveled internationally to destinations like Mexico, Jamaica, and the Bahamas. Lori loved gathering her family for celebrations, no matter how big or small. She had a fondness for providing good laughs, the best meal, playing Pokeno and Candy Crush. Lori contributed to various charities and organizations, always eager to help.
Lori was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy D. Bradford, and her brother, Stephen. She is survived by her devoted husband of 39 years, Carlton Edley; her cherished daughter and son; her beloved granddaughters, Autumn and Aleea; her mother, Lee Jackson (Kenneth); her brothers, Benny Rogers (Angela) and Greg Bradford (Diane); her sisters, Vickie Riley and Stephanie Robinson (Kevin); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Homegoing services will be held at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church on Friday, September 27, 2024. 10 am viewing and 11 am service. Come as you are; please feel free to wear black and/or purple, Lori's favorite color.
Repast for family and friends immediately following the Celebration of Life Service at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church.
